Cursed Golf
« on: September 04, 2008, 05:58:49 pm »
My car ran great but it had 230,000 miles on it and not much power. Got a deal(I thought) on an 85 turbo motor with 30,000 miles for $400. Sent the pump out to Giles. Got an 3" down pipe from Passenger and 3" ex. system. Ran 20PSI of boost. Big difference!!!!  Lasted about three months and the head gasket started to seep. Replace HG and installed studs seemed good about a moth latter a coolant leak. Replaced HG again. Still had a leak. Must be a cracked head. Replaced head. Still had a leak, Block? Removed and disassembled engine found a crack around the bolt hole into #1 cyl. Need short block. Contacted a few vender's and found Dale at Parts Place. He said a short block would cost me $1200 with a $200 core charge and $150 shipping charges (one way) it would take 3 weeks. After 2 weeks I emailed Dale and he said the parts were at the engine builder and they are very busy. Three weeks.... as Dale stated before the are very busy and don't give progress reports. I told Dale I sorry for bothering him (after all he had my $500 deposit) Six weeks.....Dales what's up??????  the builder is "finalizing" the engine and it will be dropped shipped or I can get a refund of my deposit. Refund please!!!
Bryn Wilson had a good core I could buy for $200 and $150 for shipping. Great!!!! Bought it stripped down to block sent to machine shop. Good block, good crank and pistons good...Yea!!!!
Reassemble engine. One main bearing wrong. No big deal. Install pistons... all rod bearings wrong.  I want this car out of my garage!!!RUNNING!!!! SOON!!!! This car is cursed!!!!

PS stop buying parts from Parts Place. Dale was not nice, his last job was a general manger at a car dealership that might explain it.
