Racor CCV

I've been thinking about a CCV for a while.  They keep crank case gack out of your intake.

Found this Ebay auction:

This is the smallest CCV that Racor makes, and this auction is about 1/2 the price I've seen this same unit list for elseware.

I bought one for my '79.

Jees, you guys post fast.  I was still edting the first post cause I was intending to see how the picture turned out in 'PREVIEW" and I accidently posted it.

Its a crank case breahter filter.  It takes the oil mist out of the blow by gasses and drains them back to the crank case.

Did you ever look at the tarry crap that coats the inside of your compressor.  This will filter it out of the blow by gasses and send it back to the crank case.

The $120 price compaires favorably to a decent looking catch can.

There is a flange on the block right next to the vacume pump.  Thats where I'll drain the gack back into the crank case.

I have a PDF data sheet.  How do you post those?

i guess for certain applications it would help but if i had that much blowby to contend with i would spend the 120 bucks on new rings.

New rings and all, there is still oil in the crank case gases, and there is blow by on every diesel on the planet.

This unit takes the gack out so you don't put it in your intercooler.

Take a clean white doiley, and wipe the crank case vent side of your airfilter, then talk to me about new rings.

I have to agree, every VW diesel I've had shows more oil blow by than I like. Even the 1.6L I blue-printed.

So, the list price was $240 ?

Its a flow through device.  You connect the bottom nerple to the breather on the engine, and the top nerple to the intake.  the two teeny nerples are for draining the gack back to the mud drum.

I had the Racor tech guys Email the PDF data sheet to me befor I bought it.  So if some one can tell me how to post a PDF, I'll put 'er up.

I was just about to buy the Racor CCV4500 for a butt load more from another place when I found this Ebay auction.  Color me happy.

Not sure what they're asking but I think it's considerably less than the Racor.  Market price on thr PV was around 140 last I checked.
