where to find a 27mm hex head bolt
« on: June 04, 2005, 10:32:38 am »
So I need to remove the cover for the shift rod on an AGS 020 tranny.  It is a 27mm allen head cover.  So I got this idea that I would use a 27mm bolt with two nuts locked on the end of it, stick the bolt head in the cover, and turn the bolt on the two locked nuts.  But I can't find this big a bolt.  Anyone know where I could get something like this in southern Ontario (Toronto area)?

Brainstorming a possible way to make a tool, aren't the outside wrenching surfaces of an injector 27mm hex-shaped?  You got an old/bad injector?  If so, you could try disassembling the injector and sacrificing the lower half as your 27mm allen drive tool.  You could either grab onto it with some big vice grips or pipe wrench, or maybe weld or grind on it to adapt a ratchet type drive.

that might work.  I have four old injectors, but I was planning on having them rebuilt and then keeping them as spares.  They are getting so rare and hard to find.

I just had to do this... I used a large standard bolt that I filed down slightly to fit in the cap. Then I just put a wrench over it. Not a very good description, I'll post a pic later
