identifying ve bosche pumps
« on: August 30, 2008, 04:46:52 pm »
Hi all I got ahold of a really great book "diesel engine and fuel system repair" by John F. Dagel and Robert N. Brady.  It has detailed breakdowns of the bosche ve pump designation numbering system for example VE4/9F2500R16-2
V: distributor type pump
E: pump capacity
4: # of high pressure outlets
9: plunger diameter
F: flyweight governing
2500: full load rated speed
R: direction of rotation
16-2: engineering and application info
So I went out to the garage and checked the numbers on some spare pumps and my 81 caddy with an NA 1.6 two of three pumps had the numbers stated above but one of my spare pumps had 66-8 stamped on it in place of the pump designation number as stated above. is it the same as the others? how do I check? it is visually identical no lda etc. thanks
