• why are there wires coming from the timing plug???  and is that a new style fuel stop solenoid, or just a fancy cover?

• This pump has come out of a late 96 plate golf. I think the pump has a electronic fast idle and also has an immobiliser on the back.

• I have the same pump.
  That is an immobilzer type deal on the stop solenoid. Basically you need a coded signal going to it to actiavte the stop solenoid. It is fastened on with sheer screws.
  
  The wires between the delivery valves are hooked up to the start of injection sensor
