Crank differences 1.6 na to 1.6 TD
« on: May 31, 2005, 09:37:29 am »
Anyone know if there is a difference in the 1.6 na crank to a 84 td crank.  Both are mechanical lefter engines.

I just bought a TD and got it running after swapping in a different injector pump and it has a bad rod knock.  I am gettig the motor rebuilt, but wanted to know if I can use the na crank.

Thanks,

Matt

What year of 1.6lNA is it?  Later 1.6lNA cranks have the same part number as 1.6lTD cranks.  The early 1.6l cranks have different noses.  If you have a later year of 1.6lNA like an '83 or '84, the crank nose should match the 1.6lTD style.  More info on crank nose identification is here:

Thanks for the link.  I do not know the year on the na.  All I know is that it came out of a caddy.

I'll just finish taking it apart to figure out if it is the same.

That leads into my next question, are the bottom ends pretty strong on these motors?

Thanks
