Timing belt covers
« on: August 16, 2008, 04:48:05 pm »
I am going to be needing both timing belt covers soon.  Are they all the same for the MK2 diesels?  Can they still be purchased new, or is it a used item only now?

You are lucky, actually, they both appear in the catalogue. And yes, any mk2 diesel covers will fit. They're the same for the JP, ME, JR, MF, RA and SB engines.

Upper cover seems to be about 20 bucks and it's ref: 068 109 123G, available in the USA and Canada (as far as I know).

Lower cover is about the same price, ref: 028 109 127, but seems it's only available in Europe, I'd give it a try, though.

ALL the way from Spain!  Thats why I love this site :)
Nice work on those numbers DCC.  I will give the dealer a call and see if he can source them.  Do you know if these were ever made by the aftermarket?
I have three engines, and these covers are chewed up or broken on all of them.

I haven't found any, yet. Maybe in germany they're available through some company that made them. I'd try a call to the dealer.

Yeah, mi lower engine cover is quite damaged as well (see my snapped timing belt thread), and thought about replacing it. I wasn't sure if the part was still available, but it seems it is. :)
