Injector Questions
« on: August 14, 2008, 12:05:19 am »
So, I'm braving the injector rebuild for the first time. I acutally haven't decided if I'll buy rebuilt, or rebuld them myself. I get parts at cost, so that will be a factor.

My question is this:

Is there any reason why VW lists a a different nozzle (and rebuilt injector) between the Mechanical 1.6 NA and the Hydraulic 1.6 NA?

The reason I ask, is because I need injectors for a 1987 Hydro 1.6 NA, and the nozzles cost $18. each. But the nozzles for the 1.6 Mechanical NA are only $8.

If they're the same, then I'll probably rebuild and save some change buying the cheaper nozzles. But if I have to use the nozzles specified for the Hydro motor, the  I might just buy rebuilts.

Any clue to the difference? Breaking pressure?

Thanks

Bumpity bump because I'm wondering too and I'm sure someone knows ;D.

Why different nozzles for hydro and mech?
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

No reason at all. Batches, counter-productive 'progress'  ::)

Probably doesn't make a difference, but didn't we all figure out the precup size had changed between the original mech head NA and the hydraulic head NA?  Might explain the difference in nozzle part number...

A scrap yard, from a frontal victim. Get German/French ones.  All for the price of one, or less ;D

Rockauto has real bosch nozzles for like $11.53 each, the problem though is they make you buy 'em in packs of 10 so it's $115.30 for 10. Or you can pay 12.91 and get 'em each.

That's for mech heads. Hydro nozzles cost $22.99 each.
