Interesting. I don't think I paid anywhere near that, though I could be wrong. Actually come to think of it, I just got the gapless rings as my pistons came with new rings.

Well it's pretty much assembled.
I have a problem though.
For some reason I cant seem to get the V belts routed correctly..
I think I must have inhaled to many fumes last night.
I mean I only have 3 belts. The one on the alt/ AC I didn't take off and the one that goes from the crank to the AC wont fit the power steering pump.
So I get it all back together and the belt for the PS is to big..? WTH???
Maybe I need to go back to bed.
Anyone have a pic of a engine with the accy's installed and belts on? -

Ok so here is the story.
It's Saturday morning and I'm heading out to get the car finished up.
I give it a once over to make sure I hadn't forgotten to torque anything then proceeded to install the injectors, Well once I got to #2 I broke the head
snapped the outside of the injector boss..
Well after maybe 10 min of shock I sent a couple text messages and crawled into bed in the fetal position under the covers and whimpered for a while.. I received a text back from 53 willeys saying he could take it to work to see if he could get someone to weld it up for me. So I got dressed and went back out, 25 min later I had the head in the truck and heading out to drop it off. 53 willeys was able to get it repaired and I was able to pick it up Monday morning at his house about 8:30.
Returned home and proceeded to reassemble. Took me a couple hours to get it back to the same place (installing injectors) this time I busted out the torque wrench and did it properly. no cracking..
finished reassembling and gave the key a twist.
After getting the lines bleed I turned the key one more tie and it fired right up...
After some playing around I got the timing set and put on the wheels, went inside and rested as I was TOASTED!!!
Took it for a drive to just get some miles on it before I had to take off for work in the AM.
When we returned form the test drive my wife asked if I was going to plug it in.. I said, nope! it's suppose to get into the low 40's tonight what better test then to see if it starts in 40 deg weather without glowplugs.
It was exactly 40 when I walked out the door, turned the key and VROOM!!. Fired right up. Drove to work just fine.
The blowby is almost non existent right now. Hope it stays that way. -

so sounds like the total seal rings are the way to go!
i wonder how cold you can go before you would have to plug it in with those total seal rings?
good to hear that your mobile again!
my caddy i carry a tow bar that pins to the bumper just in case !
i have not used it yet but i know it works! knock on wood :shock:

Time will tell Duane.
I mean it lasted 15k before I had problems last time although I did have GOBBS of blowby after the second turbo blew up..
It actually had to much blow by from new as far as I'm concerned. I remember Mr Diesel commenting when I was starting it that it seemed to have an excessive amount of blow by but both of us decided it must have been do to the fact that it hadn't been broken in yet..
I'll try to keep this thread updated as the miles pile on, wont take long to get a few at 120+ miles pr day just to get to work and home. -

So I had this weird condition (no smart remarks Duane).
It had this shake at about 2k rpm's under slight throttle, you could accelerate past it but if you were on say main street and just putting it would vibrate the whole car.
Also it sounded like a Subaru with a aftermarket exhaust system on it.
All 4 cyl are running I broke free each of the injector lines one at a time to listen for a dead cyl but they were all about the same.
So I pulled out the Big Gun injectors and installed them. Idles smooth and the vibration is gone..
makes me wonder why I removed the big ass injectors in the first place...
Sure was a nice drive in to work today. -

Yes it has cruise, cant wait till I get to use it again. Breaking in the engine again so using the cruise has been banned for a while..
It took me a long time (in my mind) to get it looking good.
I picked up the flares, bumpers and skirts from a salvage yard on half price day for I think $80.00, that alone changed the look allot. Then the wheels of course.. -

yeah i got big pumpers and black bbs style 15's
i need to find undamaged flares... I can't get a complete set at the yard i go to.
Changing the colour does a lot too :twisted: :wink:
oh, and slamming it on coilies
