Do exhaust in coolant testers work on diesels?

hello again forum

me and my friend decided to take it apart again to inspect the head and block for flatness. All seems good and very flat.... almost no rounding of anything, no obvious headgasket leak either.  No crack in the block... we are really interested in looking now! The head is flat and free of cracks except mirco cracks between the valves.

However with this gasket I know there was exhaust in the coolant (see title of this thread) I just don't know how much... and in order to get the exhaust to show I had to really try to run it hard and preserve the gases in the expansion tank.

We are thinking it is water pump cavitation plain and simple and that there is a restriction somewhere in the system... likely on the return side. After checking for blockages, I think we will reassemble the engine and run a water only test to find bubbles.

Fourth HG is on the way!

Thanks Max and caddy...... I shall see

carrizog you might get lucky but you should probably have faith in Bentley method.
