Need some advice
« on: August 04, 2008, 03:28:53 pm »
Getting some noise which sounds like the rear drivers side of my Golf. It's not present all the time but seems to happen if I go around a corner and the car hits a bump at the same time. It's like a clunking sound only when I hit bumps going around a corner.  Does this sound like the rear struts???

Also wondering if anyone has had any trouble with their cruise control.  1996 Golf 1.9TD.....works sometimes and other times it doesn't work at all. Could it be a bad connection?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like it might be strut mounts.

Rear strut mounts could be the possible noise?  I'm guessing I'll have to take everything off...might as well replace the struts while I do it????

Thanks for the reply

Pressure Regulator
« Reply #3 on: August 06, 2008, 06:57:47 pm »
I got under the car tonight and noticed the rear brake pressure regulator is loose and I'm thinking this might be the noise I'm hearing. Does anyone know if it is supposed to be loose or how to adjust it??

the rear strut mounts are more like rubber bump stops... not much too them, but i suppose they could crack and make some sort of clunking?

AFAIK the rear brake proportioning valve shouldn't be 'loose'
