I would like to trade my rare A2 1986 American (miles speedo) Jetta gauge cluster for a gauge cluster from an A1 (rabbit,jetta) that also has the factory diesel tach. Cluster was working when pulled and will guarantee not DOA. Your speedo can be in Km since I just need the tach. Anybody need a good cluster? Thanks, Tom

Yea Tyler, it may be a long shot, but I have seen a few in US made 83-84 Rabbit turbos and of course some American imported Jettas. Thanks for the encouragement!!javascript:emoticon(':lol:')

Well, to respond to the rarity of tachs in 1986 and earlier Jettas, all I can say is to my limited knowledge they were an option on TD Jettas, and very few were sold in the states. Now Canadian TD jettas are a different story. Much more sold. This is all based on what I have found locally and correct me if I am way off base. We can probably thank the big three in Detroit for this situation of not importing TD diesels, but that is another story. Yes, I stand by my claim they are rare on US TD Jettas....

every factory td jetta i have ever seen in the us has had the tach, they're not rare on tds, the td itself is whats rare, the only td that didn't get one was the mk1 and the ecodiesel. but i have my solution for the mk1

As Trev stated...
US TD= Rare
Tach in US TD= Standard

I have my window sticker from my 1st TD Jetta and it no where mentions the tach or gauges as an option.

But if you have one..hold onto it. The Tach and the blue ribbon on the cluster is what is special.

Well, since I cannot find an A1 tach setup to trade; and I cannot use the double connector in my A1, this Jetta A2 cluster is now for sale.
It was working when removed. This is the U.S. edition in MPH and around 250,000 on speedo. Email me if you have any questions or need a picture.
60.00 plus 20.00 shipping to lower 48.

You can use it in yours if you want to figure out how to mount it. A guy on the vortex sold one on Ebay..let me find it.
