Would you pay to add squirters to your NA block? (Make it a TD block)

What would such a service be worth to you?

$100.00 maybe?
I paid $100.00 to have a head machined out for larger pre cups so...

Guess it depends on how bad I needed a TD block at the time.

I'm researching the feasibility of this. It kind of all depends on how many used squirters I can round up though.

Perhaps since you allready offer one of the better deal on pistons, you could offer them with a ceramic coating option.  I think you could achieve the same results as you would by installing oil squirters, but with much less work.  Keeping the pistons running cooler.
Just a thought.

Not a bad idea at all, but I know a lot of folks that would require squirters, especially old school people. I'd personally be more likely to get TD pistons ceramic coated AND use squirters.

I was just thinking of all the trouble I go through to get TD blocks and assume other folks do the same...

Honestly - I have my machinist working on the design for the jig right now and had hoped to scare up some interest before we went the full monty and sank big money into making the setup.

So people would ship the blocks to you, or will you have a quantity on hand?  Shipping a block adds to the price quickly.  I think if you were not going super high boost, you could get by with CCing NA pistons, which are cheaper I think.  If the high heat does not get into the piston, the oil bath from the squirters would not be as crucial to pull it out.  But you are right, Having both IS nice.

few questions regarding N/A and TD

are the pistons the same, size meterial and so on?

as for the post above...What do you mean by CC'ing? mesurement or do you mean machine some off the top of the piston?

Can someone get away with 1400 degrees EGT or so without td oil squirters?

The way I thought it would work was that I could send the buyer a fedex label, they could box up the bare block, drop it at fedex, I'd charge actual shipping both ways.

pistons are not the same, td are cut out to clear the squirters, tops are coated for heat resistance

CC'ing is ceramic coating.

They might mandate a pallet for something that hefty.

actually fedex does freight up to 150lb -  blocks weigh under 100 bare...

I would be shipping them totally bare btw

I think it's a good idea if you can keep the price down,
Heck I think I have 3 NA blocks and 2 TD blocks here now. Would be nice to be able to convert the NA to TD if I need one.

Well since you are in the US it would be a sweet option for us locals. Id probably pay about the same price as getting a set of pistons coated since that would be your primary competition. I think when I had mine done at Calico coatings it was $40/piston+ shipping (less then $20 for my pistons and bearings) so you are looking at about $180 shipped + parts of course.

I dont know if thats what you are shooting for but Id say about $150 labor. Fairly cheap really when you think about the benefits.

BTW Yes I have coated piston tops and skirts along with oil squirters in an MF block. Is there any way to have the squirters squirt MORE to help keep the pistons cooler?

I also think it's a great idea.  And $100-150 for the service sounds reasonable.  It's nigh impossible to find a TD engine in the states anymore.

easiest way I've found to ship a block is to go to walmart and get one of those rubbermaid totes and throw it in there
