I think some states require any towed vehicle to have brakes as well, like the dolly having a surge brake or electric brakes or tapping into the vehicles brakes for a tow bar.

Well, the problems have been solved-just not the way I wanted.  My wife and I had a talk about finances and the "economic feasability"  of my trip.  "we" decided that having one car to work on / play with was enough.  Doesnt she understand?  One is never enough!
Flush that air fare down the toilet :(
Oh well, I would rather live in a happy home instead of having that really nice, sweet, cherry, rust free, west coast caddy.
I am sure one in that condition will show up here in the north east for the same $1500 I was going to get that one for.
Thanks to all of you guy's who offered to help on the way, it was kind of you.

Maybe you could post up the info on that one so that those of us on the left coast could snag it up?

He had a line of buyer's

If any of you guys are interested I know where here are two more as a package deal fo 1200.  One is rust free, one has a small hole under the rear glass.  It's a good deal.  I was going to buy them and trailer one home and sell the other.  Talked to the guy and he said there was a ton of new parts still waiting to go on.  One had a gti engine and tranny etc. Good deal for someone.
Looks like I am *** outa luck on this one.
