Does anyone know where I can find a cylinder head for a 1984 rabbit diesel or have mine rebuilt?  It is cracked.  Thanks![/b]

that'll give you an idea of price.  however there is much discussion on whether or not these are oem or chinese.  my own observation on price leads me to believe that they can't be oem!  don't believe me? go to a vw dealer and ask them how much a bare head is.  

but as for reliability, who knows.  if you run stock power it should last quite a while.  lifters can be had on that site as well, and they should also be changed unless yours are are good.

Topline sells complete NEW heads for abour $750.00 I think.

I have one I believe. You would need to use your cam and lifters and it would be a good idea to have a machine shop make sure it's flat and the vales are sealing good.

1.6 mechanical heads were discontinued from VW as of 1996, no longer available from VW.  Unless you some how find one in the back corner of a warehouse.  Aftermarket is only way to get a new head.
