I have cut the ring off of my fuel delivery screw on the side of the pump and put in turbo diesel injectors and was wondering what else I can do to turn this beast up and get more fuel besides a turbo(which I have I just have to get the manifolds to put on). This is a '82 1.6 diesel rabbit by the way.
Once you cut the little ring off did you screw it in?
Good idea to do it with the engine running in my opinion so you don't go to far.
Turn in 1/4 turn at a time and keep hitting the throttle lever to make sure it doesn't try to run away and will idle back down. turn the idle screw back out a bit as you go as well to help it come back down. Once you get to the point you cant go any higher and get it to idle back down then back the screw back out approx 1/4 turn and lock it down.
Aside from that you can advance the timing a bit to 1.02mm or so.
yeah thats what i've already done so far with the screw and i was planning on doint the timing advance. I've also been told that theres some kind of sproket inside the injec. pump that does something with how many times it squirts the fuel or something.
There is a different Cam plate you can install from the 1.9 AAZ engine that has more lift for the plunger.
Don't waste your time with the timing advance mod. No one has been able to come up with anything good from it. Nothing bad either just no positive results to speak of.
ha thanks for the heads up
What do you really get from the other cam, from the 1.9?
