What is this stuff?  http://www.dieselsecret.com  Supposedly 'converts' WVO to run a diesel engine better than straight WVO, with no heated tank necessary.

Anybody here spend the $40. for their literature, DVD & "free" bottle of "Diesel Secret Energy" juice?

By most accounts the stuff is just xylene, it thins the oil enough to make it pumpable but it doesn't solve the other problems associated with straight vegatable oil.

Really if you want to run wvo or svo you need to do a proper setup.  Correct filters, pre heated oil etc.  You might get away with mixing a small amout of svo into straight #2, but after that you need a proper setup.
If you dont, you run the risk of harming engine components, and that right there eats up any savings you just had.
If you have a good supply of wvo, go ahead and build a appleseed reactor and run bio.  Make it clean and dry and you should have no problems besides updating rubber.  
I just established a good local source of wvo and am going to go bioheat for the house and biodiesel for the car.

I actually just bought a 84 rabbit from a guy half way across the country that has a home made two tank system in  it.  The PO was less than truthful when it came  to the car but that's a different story.  The car is all rusty so I'm getting a 79 rabbit from dinkweb to transplant my engine, trans, and  two tank system into.  The only thing I don't like about my system is the second tank is made of steel (it's rusty) and it's welded into the car in  the spare tire area.  So I think I'm going to have an aluminum tank fabbed/welded up for me.

Do any of you guys have custom tanks for you second tank?

Another thing about the DSE is,  yes I bought it,  but didn't  use it.  The book they give you with it actually gives you plans for a very good WVO filtering system  down to 2 microns.  I'll probabaly  just use the DSE for cleaning parts.

On your tank, I would get a regular one from Summit before I would go custom. I've been looking for a while at tank options and have decided cost wise Summit beats the hell out of the vegi oil kit vendors.

They have quite a few that would either fit against the back seat of along the side wall in the hatch area.

If I am thinking of the same stuff, it basically tells you to filter the VO, add gasoline and some diesel lubricant (I think) and then throw it in your tank and go.  I met a guy using this system, says he gets 1200kms on a tank in his 1.6NA mk4. Yes, 1.6 NA mk4. He hasn't owned the car long so no idea on long term effects

Your right about Summit.  I was just doing a little quick searching and found a tank size I like for $230.  Far cheaper than most.  One thing that I'm concerned with is heating the tank.  What would you do to add a couple more fittings. :?

Also like the fact that the sending unit is included with the tank I'm looking at buying. :P

I don't have the info with me at the moment but I remember one of the Vegi oil kit places had a complete sending unit/ oil heater assy you could buy. If it wasn't the same size as the opening on the Summit tank I doubt it would be a big deal to make it fit if it is an alum tank. If the hole was to small cut it larger if the hole was to big get another piece of alum to make a adapter of sorts.
