Author Topic: ip pump where's this piece go (Read 2807 times)

piece is a touch rusted around the curved edge and almost appears to be broken.

sorry bout the cell pic's: my intent was resealing the back side of the ip (the side with the fuel unions), but when i pulled the rear portion of the pump everything including the cam plate spat out at me. whilst i realize its my own fault for trying to do this with the pump still in the car i need help figuring out where this last piece goes.

atm the pump is still in the car and pretty much everything is back in place except for this one piece.

its a pretty bad picture, im pretty sure thats not out of the pump

ive taken a few apart and never found a peice of rock inside :lol:

didnt know it was actualy possible to get the pump back together on the car, its hard enough in the vice wen its standing on end.

id highly recomend taking the pump off

If it's off anything inside the pump, it would have to be the control lever, but it doesn't look the right shape I don't think.

it was one of the pieces that was left inside the pump housing after most everything spilled out. its definitely not a rock as its bent steal (looks like one side has been sheared though)

i was trying to avoid pulling the pump again as i don't have the timing tools required to reinstall the pump. and being in canada a lot of the stuff you find online can end up costing twice as much.

at this point, if i have to pull the pump again...i'm sending it away.

To me it looks like the piece on the top left of each lever.

so is this a fatal thing or can it be ignored?

better yet, if i send the pump away will they be able to fix it?

Is it a broke off piece?It sounds like you just misplaced it.Is the metal snapped or stretch on one of the sides?

I'm thinking that is what the max fuel screw pushes against. Whatever it is it needs to be replaced, and I'd take the pump completely apart to make sure there are no small pieces anywhere in it.

it looks to me to be a piece thats been broken off something. else
