Up until reading Op-Ivy's post on cetane numbers I had used diesel mostly from Esso or a local independent. I tried the Petro-Canada on the last two tank fills. WOW - noticeable difference in mileage. I can't say anything about power as the 1.6 NA is pretty gutless, but I went from not being able to squeeze out more than 810 km per tank to 880 on my last two. I tried not to change my driving style at all. First tank I was sceptical - had to have missed something, but two in a row would seem to confirm it. I'm on my third tank of Petro-Canada and will then go back to Esso. Should drop and confirm the difference.

Hmm maybe I should fill up at petro can. My last tank I got 4.67l/100 which was 980 kms. I really want to break 4.5l/100kms

Is that the Flying J just east of London on the 401 Eastbound? Don't they have B5 and B20 there too? Filled up there once on dino diesel; ran fine. They're on a lot of truck routes; don't image o/o truckers would put crap in their livelihoods.
I've run the pioneer diesel and don't really notice any difference over the PetroCan (900 & 910km/tank). The Esso however, had the Jetta really into the turbo all the time (only got 822km). The best mileage it ever got was with OLCO diesel, strangely enough @ 945km (I read Hagar's saga in case you're wondering; she's set up for max um, "smilage")

probably like some motor oils have. most use something like calcium to neutralize acids. in oils its measured in TBN.
