Feeler: FS: '81 rabbit pickup- good body, bad engine
« on: July 07, 2008, 08:58:00 am »
"81 1.6 n/a, 147K mi, California truck with no rust except on a couple of minor scrapes- quite straight.  Very nice bed without rust or major dings- covered by topper most of it's life.  Good tailgate.
Engine needs longblock- head is junk, block is questionable.  PO had electrical issues which still need to be addressed (headlights don't work), non- stock instrument cluster, original speedo).  slider rear window.  fiberglass camper shell.  interior rough.  I'll post pictures as soon as I can and take the "Feeler" part out of the ad.
I'm thinking of asking $1200.  Am I being greedy or realistic?
thanks!

1.6 n/a diesel, 4 speed-  I took pictures yesterday and I should have a link to them by Sunday.  This is a feeler on this board only, trying to get an idea of what I should ask.  I am also interested in trading for a 4 door diesel rabbit in decent running condition.

Since you are in Denver, and I am North of 49, the price seems quite reasonable.  If I were in your driveway, I would probably be offering a grand in cash, with the trailer hidden around the corner and driving one of my old cars so you felt like you were doing me a favour.
