Just wondering. Saw one in my mechanics backyard that's been sitting for years.

(Edited) I thought they were called Dashers.

The 1.6 NA Dasher was one of VWs biggest sellers back in the day. So, yeah, you can do it. You'd have to have the right oil pan (Fox one should work) and the right pulled setup, but it should go in no problem.

Sorry, not a dasher. Its a type 3 squareback. It has an aircooled motor in it. Darn it is in good shape too  probably no way to wedge a 1.6 N/A in there.

Years ago in Hot VW's mag I saw a Type 3 notchback with a gasser in it. The guy installed the radiator in the spare tire spot, and he used a lot of stock VW parts.
Seems to me that if one wanted a diesel in a T3, it wouldn't be that tough to do.
