Do I need a BOV?
« on: July 01, 2008, 03:27:21 pm »
I'm installing a stock TD intake mani and there's not a bov on it. Can I just block the hole or do I need a Bov?

Then if I do need one is there aftermarket ones that'll hook up? Thanks

PS. This is for a vnt-15 install and I have no idea what boost it'll try to do so I think I want a bov in case the turbo goes crazy too easy.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

You shouldn't need one as long as the vanes aren't closed all the time,

nah you dont need one.

One of the 1st things I did after I got my newest one running was pull that center screw out, drop in a small piece of dowel and screw it back down.

There are people (on here I believe) that have made nice plugs that fill that hole. I have a spare BOV here I could probably send ya if you want it.

Thanks guys, I'll try it w/o a bov first and if I need one I'll worry about it later. Looks like I'm gonna have to wait untill fall time to install the turbo anyways.
