No Boost

I still can't get any boost from my k03 on my aaz. Today i backed off the wastegate pretty much as far as it would go on the threaded rod, i could just get the nut onto the thread :?
Still only got 0.05 to 0.1 bar giving it everything in 3rd up a hill :roll:
So, would there be any other reason why i have no boost, other than my turbo is knackered? It does spin fine though but no whistle.
I do have a t3 setup i was given that needs a rebuild, but was told the guy couldn't get any boost from that. Would a rebuild kit definately sort the turbo so that i get boost from that? Don't want to buy a rebuild kit if i am wasting my time with it. :cry:

the wastegate on my K03 was seizd open thus dumping most of the boost... best i could get from it was 2 psi :shock:

Intake leak post turbo? Exhaust leak pre-turbo?

i had no boost and no turbo whistle like you described. turns out the line going to the LDA was disconnected :lol:

numbnuts, you said that you backed the wastegate off, it seems to me that this would definitely give you no boost because the wastegate is open, letting all the exhaust gasses bypass the turbine.
Try tightening the wastegate down onto the threaded rod. Once it is tightened down, it should take some force to pull the wastegate open with your hand. Just my two cents.

I loosened off the threaded rod that controls the wastegate untill the outer nut was just on the end of the rod and this still didn't give me boost. So u are saying that i should wind the rod up onto the thread to get more boost? I read it the other way on the how to guide.
i watched the actuation of the wastegate when i revved the engine, it stayed closed in acceleration and then opened on decelleration :?

Yea, tightening the rod down will increase boost. but be careful, tightening too much will cause too much boost and possibly blow a head gasket. You probably want to start by tightening down the rod a few turns at a time and then taking it for a test drive. I've heard it said that one full turn down of the rod equals a half a psi of boost. ok, will wind it the other way then, i am sure on the how to it states the other way :roll: ah well, so i will need to wind it most of the way to actually get some boost 28 turns to get 14 psi :lol::twisted:

I had that braided line from the turbo to the LDA actually burst open. I was still getting about 1-2psi.

i had this issue when one of the pipes came off my intercooler whilst on the way to yourkshire so i got it back on only for it to come off again 5 mins later so pulled up at next station and tied a belt to keep it in place !
smoked lots and lots and only managed around 60mph.
any luck with the rod adjustment?

I Have Boost!

Must say thanks to Bert for spending the time sorting it when he had just finished work :wink: We did eventually get some boost and it turned out that the wastegate was not closing :? so all of the boost was permanently bypassing the engine. Anyway the wastegate rod is at its furthest setting and i am getting a good 15psi now no probs.
Might add a bit more fuel now i think :twisted:
