Author Topic: AAZ Turbo Feed Oil line (Read 2073 times)

The feed oil line that goes from oil filter housing to the turbo is leaking on my AAZ. (There is a small pinhole in it.) I was going to braze it, but that was unsuccessful.

My two thoughts on repairing it were:

1. Replace the broken section, with a new line & use compression fittings.

2. Replace the broken section with a auto. transmission rubber hose, and a few tridon clamps.

I'm leaning towards the trans. hose, as it will take up to 400 psi and can't find compression fittings that will fit - but am unsure if the tridon clamps will hold?

I do have extra oil feed line that I will try first, but I am unsure of the condition - so it might not work.

Any thoughts?

can't hurt to try as long as it isn't leaking and starving the turbo

Tranny line is your simplest cheapest solution. Just make sure to keep it as far as possible from exhaust parts to prolong its life.
The gear clamps (tridon) will hold your oil pressure. Use 2 on each end if you're paraniod.
They hold on air compressor lines in the shop up to 150psi on similar sized lines, and, uh, I've used them to hold propane pressure on a small transfer experiment I did which is what, 100-300psi depending on temps :twisted:

I did happen to locate another used line that worked with no leaks.
