Here's the scenario
I'm on my way into work and I live on a pretty busy street right off from a kinda major intersection (where people ALWAYS speed)
So I pull out knowing I'll have to get on the pedal.
so down the street I go to the next major intersection (about 1km down the road)
I get to the next intersection and the guy in the big SUV behind me (who obviously was speeding and proceded to slow down after I gave him the soot)
thought he would be nice and inform me of my "situation"... here's the dialog as follows
"Have you had a e-test lately?"
"Yeah, last month..... it's a diesel"
"well it's bad"
(and in my head I'm thinking... "not as bad as your SUV....")
I kinda wish I would have asked him for his Drive clean certification if he knows so much about emissions
if only people's brains were as big as their mouths eh?

LOL! Should have asked him what his MPG was, then told him to sit the F down.

I had someone from my church ask me the other day why does your car smoke like that?
I explained it was a diesel but he couldn't get his mind around it I guess.
Oh well what can ya do..

ya one guy was amazed at how i passed my e-test within 5 minutes... i came in after him and left before he was done. then i left a nice soot trail... kinda like a "have a nice f@#$in day" trail  . ah yes owning a diesel sure is awesome! i still remember e-test issues with catalytic converters etc. going on the highway heating the damn thing up and running some sort of concoction in the fuel tank too  with a diesel i just warm that turbo up real good  and take it in... probably takes less than 10 minutes
poor gassers...

I think most people who see the smoke coming from my car just assume its about to break...

LOL, this happened to me the other day, but from another vdub! I passed him and his cute little girlfriend, on a 4 lane downtown... It was a nice pass, and I'm sure his pride was hurt, he proceeded to get right on my a$$, then passed me. He leaned right out of his window, pointing to the back wheel of his car and I could see him mouthing the words "black smoke, black smoke!". I think he was confused as to why it was coming out of the side of my car....
I love driving my diesel sometimes.

after climbing a big hill in barrie one time, an old lady threatened to call the cops on me because my car was smoking really hard. I just nodded my head, and when the light turrned green I made sure that she would have to put the fog lights on to see straight.

I love it when people say "I'm gunna call the cops"...
okay.... call the cops.....
I mean, people LOVE to make everyone else's business THEIR business eh?
I mean.... even in my case, I was going to work.. and someone just HAD to say something.....
Don't old people remember "Don't speak until you're spoken to?"
jeez..

here in aus most people are filled with media driven diesel hatred.... pah.
some of the looks i get in the mk3 are great! i often have someone looking at me in my rear view mirror from behind, shaking their head, while they sit up there in their nice new 4wd gas guzzler. then they try to keep up off the lights. i have a 3 step plan for these ones:
first light - take of slow and clean (to annoy them)
second light - fast and clean (to surprise)
3rd light - give them the smoke treatment. (to teach a lesson)
but i really love it when people get all racy on the freeway, overtaking me back after i pass them, because they think they shouldnt be overtaken.... its fun when they havea a bewildered look on their face when you pull away fast while already doing 110km/h.
