Cast iron alternator mount?
« on: May 11, 2005, 04:32:45 pm »
It's been recommended tha i replace my currently bent steel alternator bracket with one of cast iron that's supposedly available - anyone seen one of these things, and what do they go for?  Thanks -

Yeah, I got one as it came with the `83 Jetta TDI that I`m working on. It fits low below the injector pump. I`ll send a pic if I can,

non-AC alternator bracket

When you switch to the better cast iron non-AC alternator bracket, you'll need to change the injection pump/motor mount bracket too.
There is a small bracket that goes to the injection pump bracket, your steel one bolts directly to the injection pump bracket in a different place.

Any idea where I can find these, or on what years they came on (our supply of junkyard cars here is very poor - I can count them on one hand)?
