All I have found is one site offering them for a 1.9 tdi. even if they are they same and that valve would work, they want $40 for one. anyone know where they are available?

yea, my MK2 has one, for the preheating at the fuel filter. i know they are the same, the TDI one and the one I need but seriously, 40 for what is in essence a PCV valve?? that a little outrageous to me...

that's what I'll be doing. I'm going to install a mk1 style because I hate distrubing the lines every filter change. Or I'll go after market, I haven't decided yet.
