Recently I had changed my head gasket due to low compression and oil leaking from the head/block mating surface area! At a 460 000 mark the gasket showed signes of wear and was beginning to be in need of a re-freshment!
Changed the gasket and used racewear headstuds to lock it down... Apon assembly I was able to get the engine running rough but running regardless... No leaks from the new gasket and things seemed to be working enought to test drive,,,
Low power and high fuel consumption were the final story after playing around for few days...
I finally had a day off work to get out and get this 1.5 tuned..
Off to Performance Diesel Injection in Ontario (the place of the famous gilles pump) I had some leaking injectors and I was sure there were timing issues.
I show up at Gilles shop to a smile and great service, Bring her around the back Gilles says and I knew there that Id share that same smile while rolling out of the shop on my way home! Sure enough, There were good times had learning all about Diesel Injection and how it's done proper!
Although it's not, It felt like my first time talking to a diesel injection specialist! The knowledge and professional manner of the afternoon gave me reasurance of reliability in even my old vw rabbit!
I ended up being a tooth out in timing...possibly more because when I returned to the seat for the trip back to my town I was forsure smiling and I understood then and there why people say Performance Diesel Injection is a must have for the Diesel crowd!
Hats off to Gilles and Tyler at Performance Diesel Injaction on Steelcase in Markham Ontario. If you've been there you know and if not your really missing out!
restored fuel econo and power with timing and compression test and injector cleaning, I yet to get the pump done but wow what a differance !thanks so much!
