anouther cuirous post, when you intall a K24 on a AAZ you have to grind the intake mani well i would rather leave alittle extra on then remove to much and break through it was a very tight fit when i put the turbo bolts back in well what im getting to is, lets say when i tighted the bolts and the bolts pulled the turbo down and if there was alittle extra material could i bend the housing on it? like i got the turbo from the junkers so ya you take a risk! but ive got my oil problem fixed is does use a very very small amont if im driving it really hard which i think is normal if im not mistaken?? i have the 1.6 pin in and solinoide thing done but if i get on it WOW it blows a ton of black smoke.....this normal?? 2.5 straigh back to my muffler so good free flowing so EGT are fairly low but im kinda worried about getting pul;led over!!!! wouldnt they say somehting as i took my cat out!!
1. i would hope the intake mani would bend as its very soft but i need insight
2. normal with my new turbo to blow lots of black smoke (only hitting 10PSI)
3. if you drive it alittle hard is it nornal to consume alittle oil?
i really appriciate all the info everyone has! i wouldnt have changed that turbo myself but after reading diff post on here it kinda walked me right through it AAA+++ site!
Both the intake manifold and inlet housing on the turbo are aluminum....and under stress aluminum likes to break......
The part you have to cut off is a little bracket.....you are not making the the manifold weaker by cutting it off....I would just remove it and not try and mess up the turbo or manifold by cracking.
About the smoke issue....you prolly have too much fuel for the boost you are running.....try blocking the wastegate.
On both of my K24s, I filled the banjo bolt on the compressor with ultra copper RTV, and disconnected the waste gate line at the turbo.
Insty boost, lower EGT, less smoke, and a whole bunch of GO!
with the wastegate blocked ur boost depends on fueling, with a k24 i was running around 25psi with a fair amount of smoke
hey by turning the fuel screw in to increase fuel will i notice a big difference, is it worth it to so i already have a 1.6Pin and it seems to give me lots of fuel i cant cant believe how much faster this car is getting with just little things here and there bigger turbo made the world of diff but i do use it as my daily 200k's per day commute car to work 4 days a week so i dont want to kill it!!
and before i played with the fuel and could never get it to idle quite right then had the IP rebuilt so dont want to reck nothing
