I just replaced my waterpump last weekend and now my car runs a little warmer than before. Just above the halfway mark compared to before when it was below halfway.

The impeller on the new pump was different than the old.

The old looked like this.

The new looked like this.

Is there a difference in performance between the two? I don't like running this warm especially with summer coming right up

did you replace the t-stat or no? that should probably be changed...

the first one looks like it would flow more than the second, but the second one would have less 'drag'

who manufactures each of those pumps so the rest of us dont have to guess.

Yea the Hepu one is the old one that I had. I'm not sure who the new one is made by and I can't even find a picture on the internet of the specific one.

Once I take it off I'll post with the manufacturer.

The difference between those two pumps is the only problem I've had with AutohausAZ. I bought a "cast impeller" pump, was shipped a stamped sheet metal pump, returned it with a suggestion that they correct their listing, and got an absolutely nasty response back.

Might have been an off day, but still it's inexcusable.

I would have thought the same thing, however on an AAZ I changed the pump to the new style pressed tin, and my motor runs about 10 degrees cooler. We did another one also and the same results. I would have thought the cast solid blade was better, but it does not flow better. I know one other person who has also discovered this with an aaz.

The stamped one was Hepu as well.

I guess they make both the cast iron and stamped.

My 1.5L d N/a runs at Idle roughtly over half mark

while driving runs below or on half mark with both types of impeller waterpumps installed, both made by Hepu in Ger.

Im wondering if it really matters myself, I seen not change!

The temperature that the car runs at will be directly affected by the thermostat. The waterpump will simply aid in cooling the engine. The better the flow, the faster the return to normal operating temperature.

I can confirm, now that I have put in a cast iron one, that it does flow better than the stamped one.

How stiff are the impellers to turn? I guess they have to be driven and won't free spin with a flick :?:

Both of them spun the same amount.

Correct, they don't spin freely. I think the inner seals keep too much pressure on them.
