Boost enrichment on a 91 ECO?
« on: May 07, 2005, 07:08:41 am »
I'm relatively new to VW diesels.  Did a search but couldn't find any info.  Will a true TD injection pump with boost enrichment work on an eco?  It's a 91 with 292,000 miles.

Yes, you can swap pumps. Or you can transplant the LDA (the boost enrichment device) from a TD pump onto the pump on your ECO diesel.

I would say do not transplant the LDA yourself . rather go to someone
who knows what to do .
 :!:
PS. ask Gilles for that

I just had Giles do that for me as well as go back over the entire pump and mod it some. I will find out this week what it is like to have that. Got it almost together and hope to crank it this week.  :D

Let me know how it goes when you get your ECO up and running.  Also, nice Impala.  I have a 95 Impala SS (but would rather have yours).

I'm hoping to have it up and running this week. I noticed that your in Wilmington, I'm up near Goldsboro.  Basically just a few miles off exit 355 on I 40.  Maybe once I get it running I can make a break-in run down your way. :D

Sounds good.  Where did you find the LDA?  I have made a few calls (mechanic, buddy at junkyard) and haven't had any luck so far.  Also, where is Giles?  The best VW diesel guy in Wilmington didn't seem to know squat about the ECO.
