Dammit!!!
« on: May 27, 2008, 09:09:35 am »
Well my Saturday started out good but ended badly.

I emptied over 4 qts of oil out of the intercooler.

Engine started to race away just as I rounded the corner to my house, had it in 3rd (luckily) so I was able to drop the clutch and kill it before it toasted everything.

Guess I need something a tad more robust than a k24..

Is the T3 any better?
How about a k26?

Maybe I can use the smaller exhaust housing off a k24 and use the compressor and cartridge from the k26?

how hard a corner was it? are you sure you didn't just loose oil from out the valve cover-pcv-turbo inlet?

Look at those fins there..

The shaft is broken.. Need a stronger turbo.

The "corner" I was going around as the engine started to race was just a regular corner you would go around in a city.

This happened about a mile from home, started to ingest oil as I got home.

Are you running too high a boost and overspeeding the turbo? If so, then maybe T3 or VNT time.

Ummm ya high boost and fast shifts is what killed it.

The sound of turbo bark during shifts told me I was running the boost a tad high. Like 30spi. Hit 40 a few times pre intercooler.

Was really working that suka.  I would love a VNT but I'm not to sure I want to go through the control part to get it to work.

At the moment I'm leaning towards building a K24/26 hybrid or using a T3.
If nothing else the T3 should be beefy.

What are you running for fuel?

Pump
Injectors

I think the biggest thing is I'm running a 10mm pump with a 1.9idi camplate in it.
Merc nozzles as well.

get me some of your specs and I might be able to hook you up with a new borg warner turbo charger. what kind of power you want to run, along with Nozzles, boost pressures, displacement and all that fun stuff.

This could be fun,

I want to be as close to 150hp as I can get without loosing reliability. I would love 200 but I would like to keep the head under the hood.
Running a 1.6 ltr (1mm over), using Merc injectors @ 155bar and I have some Case injectors as well, those suka's flow some fuel for sure but I haven't been running them as it's hard to get a good idle.
I'm running a huge FMIC bar and plate style.

I would like to have it around 10psi @ 3000 RPM. Right now @ 3000 I'm running about 4-5 psi (freeway cruising) and about 750-800 on the EGT's I suspect that's largly due to the ACN trans, it's geared taller for freeway.

The only porting is gasket matching :(

What other info can I provide?
