A/C working but... Idle is shaking me to death

Fixed my A/C but now when I idle, A/C on or not, my car is shaking me to death. I had a Giles injection pump installed a year ago, and when I did my mechanic told me that the hook up for the A/C switch wouldn't reach to the pump. Is that what is causing the prob?? Could it be something else. Any suggestions appreciated.

what do you mean hook up to the switch? that would be a wire. and a splice to fix. I don't think it would be able to pull that far.
My vote is that your mounts are probably toast or severly out of alignment.

If you have a 1986-up car, you should have the choke lever with the idle adjust on it. Just pull the knob out when you're running AC, or reset your engine idle to account for AC. Then, idle it down in the winter.

Quantum, are you talking about the cold-start lever inside of the car?

Properly adjusted, the second notch on the cold-start handle also ups your idle a 100 RPM or so... enough for cold winter mornings but also good to add a little power when the air conditioning is on.
Later cars actually have a fast idle actuator on the IP that automatically bumps up the idle when the A/C clutch engages.

Yeps. See post above.

I think my mechanic said he didn't connect the fast idle actuator because it didn't reach the injection pump that I got from Giles. It didn't matter at the time, since I didn't have A/C. Can I just splice wires and extend it?

what i've done with my ac , is wire a toggle switch into the wires going to the pump , so i can turn the pump off when needed .
i also pull out my cold start lever .... in your case why not just turn up your idle a bit ?
