metal cased front engine mount

Hi guys,

my bro in pakistan ordered a new VW front engine mount from dubai - it came over and its a genuine VW part but its a metal encased thing - it fit alright, but the car is vibrating more than usual - any ideas what kind of mounting this is?

and for reference if I were to order a tranny mount - is there a difference between gasser and diesel ones?

sounds to me like the passat solid mount.  lasts forever, but vibrates more.

Yes, gassers and diesels have different types of mounts. The diesel ones being softer because of the amount of vibration.

I've heard of people putting gas mounts in diesels often. It's something you wouldn't really think about.
