Does the AAZ take the same valve cover gasket as the 1.6?
What is used as a spacer on the studs that stick up through the cover to hold it down? Mine each have 3 nuts on them, but it seems wrong, somehow.
Believe it or not.. that's the OEM part. Had to order more from VW to convince myself.
They look like 3 nuts cross-jammed against each other but (at least all the ones I have) aren't... it's one piece with grooves milled in it to look like 3 nuts.
Kinda makes sense that it isn't 3 nuts... what are the odds of all of the flats lining up all three times ?! ;-)
there are rubber donuts and then metal rounded washers on top of them that sit on the top of the VC and are held down by 10mm nuts.
Is that what you are talking about?
Thanks, Vincent, that's the one. I got all the rest...I even powdercoated the cupped washers, but the "nuts" confused me.
BTW, does the AAZ share a cover gasket with the 1.6? Does it have holes around the edge for unused studs?
my TDI head has a different gasket than my old 1.6, but I am not sure about an IDI 1.9 as I have not messed with one.
Someone must know what an AAZ gasket looks like

?
No it doesn't have the holes. Think I still have mine if you need a pic.
they are different because they don't have the holes, but i bet you could use a 1.6 gasket in a pinch, the aaz one really reminds me of an aba vc
