the JR is a turbo diesel, look at my post above, its also a 70Hp,your CR is a non turbo bottom end,no oil cooling jets for the pistons as far as i know,
the head is different too, the turbo head is a better alloy and better valves,so i heard, not 100% though,
Bert
Ah i see no cooling jets !! so thats the difference, cheers
so i take it my block is a CR and has nothing to do with a JR as the motor factors have suggested, just thats confused me a little, why oh why would a block be labeld a CR but actually be a JR???
you recon its a motor factor c*ck up??
I appreciate your input
thanks again
you could still have a very good daily driver, you can get more than 100bhp from that setup. but keep an eye on EGT and oil temps when hammering it.
you could keep up with a gti, but not for long if you want that engine to last.
Thanks!!!
So what sort of mods would you suggest to get 100 bph??
Gauges WILL be fitted
my friend had a 1.8 gti campaign mk1 and i used to keep up with that (just) he would just pull away from me up till about 50-60 then id be on him  and that was with the engine how it is!!!??
i think the turbo has been adjusted so it spools up earlier than normal and probably a tiny bit more fueling, but rest is bog standard.
