copper washers
« on: May 04, 2005, 04:28:10 pm »
Well I got my turbo back from being overhauled and of course the place that did it is now closed so I can’t call them to ask a few simple questions but was wondering. In case things don’t work out for me when I call up the repair shop, where can I get new copper washers for the oil supply fitting and the oil return fitting? Also the copper gaskets for the banjo fittings that connect the boost line from the inlet side of the turbo to the relief valve?  Or can I reuse the old ones. Isn’t there suppose to be a copper washer on each side of a banjo fitting? More set backs if I have to order these and can’t get them local. I might have this engine back together by the end of May. This is a KKK K14 turbo.  Looks great at least.
Thanks

You can reuse the old ones if they are in good shape after anealing them. To do this, use a propane torch to heat them until they start to change color to a blue green. This will soften them so they will seal good again.
