I feel stupid asking this question but I cannot remember.\
Will a 1.6 L oil pan bolt up to and clear the rotating assembly of a 1.9 Early TDI? If I remember right the block is bubbled out for the crank and because of this the oil pan is different. which leads me to my second question. is the oil pan symetrical? Can I Flip it around and have it bolt on? I know that I would need to get a new oil pump pick up to do this but I might need clearance for a tracker swap that I want to do and that is why I am asking these questions now since the front crossmember will be in the way of a normal pan but the one that I have locates the sump off to one side (timing belt side)
thanks in advance,

i think it will fit, but you need to block the oil return as TDI's oil return is right on the block (as 1.9's)
Thanks, just wanted to confirm it before my search for a tracker instead of a samauri (cheaper and easier to get ahold of)

what about being able to switch the pan around if the oil pump pickup was changed?
If I'm not mistaken, the "bump" in the oil pan is to clearance the oil pump itself, so you'd have to change it's location rather than just the pickup.
I dunno if that's true for transverse engines, though I know it's true for longitudinal setups. Can't really imagine it being that much different.
