ok i'm going to convert an1980 diesel into my 82gas.both rabbits, but trying to get the engine to run good first.
fuel unknown age, tank is pretty full
no exhaust
glow plugs work
crank over and when it fires it reves way up then dies
try numerous times, start feathering throttle to get it to keep running.
starts to run on it's own ,but not good.
pulled injectors out and replaced with another set that i just took apart and cleaned(reason being is i think injecotrs were sticking)
runs better,but not much, actually will idle on it's own after it get's warmed up. try to yard run it ( no brakes) and not to much power at all, actually got to rev it up to get going. 1 think noticed also is that timing belt seems very tight. i'm wainting on timing tools. any ideas?

check the timing once you get the tools.

Is it sucking in air? It could be a clogged fuel filter

had a clear hose on return and there is very good circulation.
