N/A to turbo questions
« on: April 24, 2008, 03:13:35 pm »
I have a 81 1.6 diesel rabbit. Going to turbo and have some questions.

First what turbos will fit on this manifold?

2Where does the egt go on this?

3what is this bracket?

4what are these threads for on the downpipe?

5What do i use for a gasket in there?

6what does this nipple do in the pic  above?

7Is this intake gonna fit it looks small and doesn't have a  hole for a bov like others have that i have seen

1)K24, K14, T3, possibly more
2) Near where the turbo mounts, somewhere pre turbo that all the cylinders meet at
3)Holds the intake to the exhaust manifold (I think)
4) There is another bracket that goes there to hold the turbo to the manifold
5) Silicon?? Very little though
6) That goes to the injection pump LDA so you get more fuel under boost. Cap it off or run it to a boost gauge if you don't have a LDA
7) It looks like it will fit. I'm not sure what it is from

Alternatively, it wouldn't be much work to just make a gasket for that flange/elbow.  Just get some gasket paper, cut appropriately, of if the edges are sharp enough, do the hammer on it to cut it thing.

If you don't want the spraypainted yellow manifold, I'd probably be interested in it if it's cheap.  :D

yar, a manifold without the stupid diverter valve would be preferable in higher boost applications(and sweet on any motor)

and the bracket on the manifold bolts to the downpipe at the two threaded holes you asked about, makes the assembly a little more rigid.

the yellow manifold and the silver one are the same. i took the yellow off. heres a pic of the holes.

im going to see if the holes match up with an old na intake mani

How much fuel do you need for a k24/t3. Ive been turning the fuel up but would i have to go into the pump timing?  na pump

which is better/cheaper to find.  what size t3 is the same as a k24.

Thanks for the help so far

also what can a guy use for the oil lines?   tap on top of the oil filter and on the oil pan-anywhere?

where can i find a hose/elbow  from the turbo to the intake manifold?

so all i need  is a oil filter housing tapped, tap the oil pan. find a turbo
piping for an intercooler and an intercooler.  oil lines.  egt probe and gauge  boost gauge anything im forgeting?

would i need a intercooler right away if i run low boost?

Get hose coupler from auto parts store ,they should sell you a 2"radiator hose for a truck.Ive got some and mates up perfect. The one i get has one 90 deg. elbow and is long enough to make enough couplers for a whole charge pipe system for your intercooler.Or theres feebay! :D

Its a 1.9 TD manifold and yeha it will fit onto 1.6 no problem....  1.9 manifolds were the ones that came without the BOV cut out.

Dont u wana add Turbo pistons and oil squirters???  its just sumdrilling and fixing!

it looks like someone did some porting on that intake.  the inside is usually pretty rough and grainey.

the BOV is kinda useless if you ask me.  the wastegate should be fine at regulating boost unless it gets stuck from not using it.
