WTB: AAZ longblock in New England

Yeah, I know. Join the club. So, I'll be heading to NE later this month and early next month (May). I was thinking it might be worth the trip to Maine to try and score a good AAZ longblock: perhaps with IP too.

I'm not rich by any means, so nothing over say $1000, and the cheaper the better.

I know it's probably a pipe dream, but I figured I toss it out there and see what shows up.

If you want to cross into St Stephen NB (across the border from Calais) I can sell you a complete running engine with 220k kms.

The lower pulley runs crooked... the PO filed the crank nose and cleaned it up when he did the timing belt 2 years ago. It is on tight but it does run crooked (but not LOOSE). I was going to put this engine in my samurai as-is, but if I were to sell it I'd prefer to have it fixed right. With a new timing belt & repaired crank, I'd want 1k. That would be for the complete running engine with alternator and 4 good glow plugs (2 are bad now).

If you want the engine AS-IS (2 yr old timing belt, slightly "wonky" crank, 2 bad GPs) I'd take $750.

Hmm. I'll ponder that. I'm on my way up this week, so we'll see what my schedule looks like.

Oh OK... well if it's that soon the best I could do is sell you the engine as-is. Otherwise I'd need a couple weeks to get the crank fixed

So, I thought I would pull this thread up from the grave. I'm still looking, but not 'actively'. I went to CT from May2-27, but didn't really travel much. I'm going to be heading to Maine for Labor Day week. If I could score a motor then, that would be groovy.

Again, looking in the $900 and under range. Pipe dream? Perhaps.

LMK.
