Its a VNT turbo..probably a VNT15 from a late model TDI

From what I can find, I think it's a gt17.
I thought tdi's had a flange for the turbo to bolt onto. The guy I bought it from thought it came from a mk3.
How many psi can it make, on a 1.6na? Engine blowing, or like 9 max?

Actually, after further research, it *is* a vnt15. Will this do bad things on a 1.6, or not?

you gotta make up linkage like andrew made other wise it won't work right!
thats trickey mod. but can be worth while!

I think I'll sell it to the tdi guys and just buy manifolds off of a 1.6td. These seem to bring a bit of cash from the tdi guys. I know, I'll regret it, vnt15's rock, but I'm not that hardcore diesel. I like my diesel and all, but if I want a fast car, I'm going to start with a 16v in a mk1.

the vnt15 will spool like mad down low giving you good efficiency. the turbo's these engines came with are quite laggy in comparison. around town this turbo would be great.i would re-think selling this if i were you.
the mechanical linkage is a bit difficult at first, but you could also try to flip the fan upside down so it works off boost.

That vnt will make your car faster. You will get boost much faster with that, then you would with a t3 or k24. You will run hotter wide open though.

I think I'm going to keep it.

I don't have a true td engine, so I fear I'd toast my na block. I dunno. The TDI manifold mounts the turbo down really low, though. :? The linkage looks like a PITA, but for the boost, it'd rock. Is it possible to only run like 10 psi with it? If I could run 10 psi and my stock pump until I get ahold of a td engine, that'd rock.

pm sent a few hours ago.
I still don't know, I really would like enough cash to finish the car out and leave it slow, which is why I'd like to sell the manifold and turbo. Plus, I'd be saving this stuff for a project maybe next winter or beyond, and by then, I'd never have time for a project like putting a vnt on a idi. But then again, I would like quick spooling.
