1.6L diesel solid to hydraulic head conversion
« on: April 05, 2008, 06:39:19 pm »
read below...and get with your techies..please...

I need pics of the gasket (s) overlayed onto  the block ...

1.6L hydraulic diesel head gasket on top of the non-hydraulic block....

and the: hydraulic head flipped upside down with the non-hydraulic (early) gasket

overlayed on that...purdy please....

I did notice that when I overlayed the two gaskets:        (pics below) scroll down

...when hydraulic gasket is used on the non - hydraulic block there is one small

water hole in the block that lines up and partially intersects with the hole  in  the

hydraulic gasket directly below or underneath  where the secondary oil drain

is...(now plugged)

I think that is where the water is coming from....?

This hydraulic gasket it creates a "void" in the sealing area  because in that

circular area there is NO gasket material where the head and early block style meet.

So this "void"overlaps that water hole and goes to the outer edge of the block, so

the water follows that......

If we use the old style head gasket that "void" between the head and block is

filled by the head gasket,  but additional water holes have to be punched  in the

head gasket....if there are more water passages......whaddya say?

I appreciate your help...txs  very much.....mike 305-731-3185
