Well summer is approaching so I figured we should try and have a weekend camping trip. I was thinking northern MI, OH, or NY or southern ON.

Basically a tent and trailer style campground.

How many people would be interested? Please remember that passports might be needed, I forget what the status is on ground crossing.

So please post up your thoughts, comments and suggestions

I was thinking somewhere in the blue circle because it seems that the majority of people live in, or within driving distance of it.

I see Detroit is in the circle. I suggest we head out to 6 mile and circle the cars exhaust pipes out :lol: . Someone bring a caddy so there can be dancing in the bed. I still have some kevlar kicking around somewhere in the garage I can share. :shock:

At the present time, there's an extension on the passport thing. For the time being a birth certificate and a driver's license should still do the trick, but they'll give you a pamphlet and a pep talk about wha tthe rules are and tell you they'll be in force "soon". Don't tick them off.........

Canada still lets the Americans in, it's US customs that will cause problems, same as always. Won't even let Americans back in the country if they don't feel like it!

Seems like it would still be possible without a passport for some time.

Apparently for Canadians it's only a 4 week waiting period for a passport at the moment

So basically there is a place 2 hour south of buffalo with a big lake, free and legal camping although it's first come first serve on a dirt road. I'd be leary of brining a belly dragger, or overloaded vw It's on top of the mountain, and the road is sometimes a bit rough. paved road (fee) camping as well. they have boat rentals at the marina, but we'll have our ski boat in, and can do tubing, skiing, wakeboarding, and kneeboarding. I know having a honkin big tree fitty push around a boat at 20mph kind of goes against the fuel sipping nature of a diesel G2G, but it's really fun.

other fun things to do within 10 miles: drive past a refinery, hiking, swimming, windy/hilly road in your choice of dirt, or tarmac.(definitely at the speedlimit, of course)

come visit the only national forest in pennsylvania, or else.

If anyone has a real calender that shows both US and CAD holidays we could find a nice long weekend and make a go of it.

I think the rotation of a VW diesel backwards, and there is no 1.6TD that'd survive a day in the life of skiboat tree fitty.

I tell you what. You build a 6 cyl turbo diesel with 300+ ft/lbs of torque under 3000 rpm, fab up some mounts and get it so it'll bolt up to a small block tranny pattern, and we can swap it in a weekend. I don't remember if it's CW or CCW rotation, but I know that we had to swap camshafts to get the rotation right.

It's a 1975 19' century "ski fury" It was gutless with a 5L engine, didn't make enough torque at low speed. We'd need to experiment with prop pitch and size, but all in due time.

Start building a 2.4 and I'll letcha know if the camshaft will work.

It's the Kinzua Dam/Reservoir on the Allegheny National Forest (there are about 5 different spellings of Alleghany)... It's located about 8 miles east of Warren, Pennsylvania. the lake is ~27 miles long, and lives on the New York/PA border. The Wolf Run Marina, one of two on the lake, is located conveniently across from a public concrete beach, and is a few miles drive from free camping. Backpacking is also allowed but you must be 1500ft from roads, and 1500ft from the shoreline (except in designated areas) The marina is rumored to be getting new management this year or next. I'll get some pics, and more info as I can, but my internets is slow.

if the timming is right I would love to attend, for me anything within 1 tank of fuel fron Ottawa, ON. is cool
