Hi all, im new to the site and vw diesels. I picked up a '96 jetta gl turbo diesel, with a 5 spd manual transmission. My understanding is that this is a fully mechanical injection system, using the bosch ve injection pump.
My first question is, what kind of mileage would be expected from this car on a single tank, if one was driving mostly highway km?
Secondly, there are a few things that i think may be affecting the mileage of this car currently. First of all, the 'quantity adjustor' seal is leaking at the top of the IP, it doesnt seem to be affecting it too much, as the car starts ok, and seems to run decent. Should this problem be fixed asap?
Second I noticed that there are air bubbles in the fuel feed line, and if i rev the motor up with the hood open, many start to suck into the line. Third, three of four injectors appear to be slightly wet.
Any suggestions on how this should be dealt with , or other ideas on gaining power/ milage. Exhaust, intake, injectors?
I also make my own fuel in the warmer temps, so i hope these cars like biodiesel as much as my 94 dodge cummins does!
thanks in advance for any help
