Sadly, I'm selling my beloved 97 Jetta TD. This was my first venture into the world of diesels and I loved it, but the car has to go. Here's some particulars.....
1997 Jetta TD
1.9 AAZ engine
5 speed
3347xx kms
About 50,000 kms on the timing belt (tensioner replaced at same time)
New serpentine belt
New ball joints and tie rod ends last summer
Starter rebuilt last year
Previous owner said turbo was rebuilt at 235,000 but I don't have a receipt to back it up, but it will make 14psi of boost
AM/FM/CD player
Boost gauge
Four good winter tires (Nordic Icetrac from Canadian Tire) with only 2 seasons on them mounted on steels (rims are same age as tires)
Painted last fall, but could use touch up on bumpers
The bad (or not so good):
The glow plug unit stopped working and I had to by-pass it so there is a push button for the GPs. Also, the fuel stop solenoid wiring was not working, so there is a toggle switch on the dash to control the stop solenoid. The block heater has stopped working, but with the switch to 0W40 synthetic, I didn't need it any way. The power steering pump has a couple of broken bolts and is not curently in use. I prefer it without PS, so I didn't bother to fix it.
The car starts great even in the cold weather. Oil changed every 5000kms and I switched to full synthetic (0W40) this winter.
Will post some pictures shortly.
Asking $3000 obo
