was just wondering if any parts from a 1.8L Gasser will work on the 1.6, cause I got one for free, that runs from a parts car at school.

i used a GLI dual exhaust mani and downpipe (for an n/a) for a bump in exhaust flow. i've also heard some gasser intakes give better airflow too but not sure which ones.

I've heard about the gasser intakes, they are more open and have seperate runnersfor each intake port, but I was wondering about some internals, like the crank and conrods but even if they fit do they have the strength to handle the cylinder pressures of a Diesel?
pistons and head are no good cause they're too thin and low compression.

the engine builder who did my bottom end was working on building a 1.9 diesel bottom end by boring and sleeving a 2.0 block. i haven't followed up yet to see how it worked and have no idea what parts he was using, but he seemed enthused about saving some coin (since diesels are rare and pricey around here) it was going to be for his project daily driver rabbit truck.

1.8 crank n rods are different. think about the only long block parts you can use on both, cam cover, maybe intermediate shaft seal holder (intermediate shafts are different), oil pan if you have an NA diesel, valve shims if you have a mech lifter motor. front and rear crank seal holders, sheet metal between the motor and trans some nuts and bolts

filter mounts are identical too, the oil cooler just threads on to it.

that plastic oil cam saver thing
dont forget to robb the motor mounts
hardware of all kinds
gas starter works on summer but cant turn in winter diesel
rads fine if you watch it, diesels suppose to be different one
should be a better alt on gti;s
larger oil pump too
if it's gti then there is a nicer trani and clutch package 210mm

Id look into that oil pump, taking the pan off is easy as...
then you have two bolts holding on the oil pump, just to be sure id give it a go because maybe you have the 36mm oil pump
I was thinking that the gasser oil pumps got a different length shaft
I beleave the shafts are interchangeable but I think the gears are different size... someone to clear this up?
give it a try...rob everything you see off it
