New to VW diesels

alright guys i just bought a 83 rabbit pickup with a 1.6 diesel in it, this is my first vw diesel, i picked it up for $600 with 91k on the clock, im definatly not new to diesels though, i have a dodge with a 12v cummins, and a 88 mack rd690 currently and i owned a ford 7.3 powerstroke before that, both modded, as for this vw how do i go about turning it up, i beleive the pump is similar as the older 12v cummins bosch VE pumps but i could be wrong, my truck has the bosch P7100 so i am not terribly familar with the VE but i know my way around it, i have heard about the fuel pins, governer springs, max fuel screws in these vw's, can someone give me some how to's on these, also i need a how to on the shift linkage bushings, there bad which i guess is a very typical vw thing, i want to make as much power as i can out of this 1.6 without doing a turbo just yet, what are my options for injectors? also is there anyone that does custom airboxes for these, i have a k&n filter coming for it, but the plastic box has a crack in it, and it seems like there has to be a better way to get air to that box, i will be putting a pyro on it and an exhaust, so any help here is much appreciated and it seems like you guys have got a great site here, look forward to being a member

case injectors are the same as whats in the older cummins 12V, actually you can get them much cheaper and with larger nozzles at a farm equipment dealer. thats what me and my frien

You don't rev a VW diesel, you increase the clatter.

Check out the "FAQ" section for the FAQs. Specifically the make your 1.6td a faster car, or 1.9.
