1.6TD camshaft in a 1.9TD?
« on: March 15, 2008, 09:29:47 am »
What will occur theoretically if I put a 1.6TD cam in a 1.9TD AAZ motor,   less torque at low rpm and much HP at high rpm? And allow more high rpm range?

I have read that the 1.6td cam was better for power.  Where the power is on the rpm range I do not know.  I do know that Dave at PP did some experimenting with the cams when he was working on different profiles.  I think his performance cam is based off of a 1.6TD cam.

'Ok, It's because It's what I tested this morning, and It's what seems to occur, the car feel smother at low rpm, and seems to have a better facility to take more rpm past 4500rpm.....   but the difference is hard to see on the road.....   I dont know.

For now, the guy filled his diesel tank to see what occurs on the mpg.

I couldn't find a measurable difference in the cams when I did the head on my 1.9, but then again I was measuring lift with a caliper.......... I put it back together with the cam that came in the 1.9. Maybe someone else aready did that(put a 1.6 cam) to my engine??
