1.6 NA cooling circuit diagram
« on: March 12, 2008, 05:35:41 pm »
Does anyone know of a diagram showing the flow of the coolant within the 1.6?  I'm kinda hoping there's one online, but what about some sort of shop manual (bentley, haynes, etc?)

it is pretty straightforward

the flange exiting the head - in front has two outlets - one towards the front of the car one towards the bottom of the engine - Front goes to the radiator top hose, the bottom goes to the coolant pump top connection (this may also have a secondary pipe to connect to the oil cooler if you have it.

The next flange on the head is on the side pointing towards the left side of the car - connect it to the heater duct in the firewall

The outlet of the heater duct connects to the metal pipe snaking along the engine towards the coolant pump and fits in the lower connection of the pump. In between this snaking metal pipe are 2 more connections - one connects to the coolant expansion tank lower hose just besides the heater hose and the next connects to the oil cooler at the oil filter

The lower elbow of the water pump connects to the lower radiator hose - and finally the thin hose from the top of the tank connects to the thin outlet on top of the radiator or inbetween the upper coolant hose if your car has A/C in it
